Below are guidelines for team selection when the SDUHC sends teams to tournaments.
Objective: To Best represent the SDUHC
at tournaments.
- Nominations for a team(s) selection
committee of three members shall be conducted and the committee shall be
voted on and approved at a general meeting, two months before a tournament.
- Prospective players should then let
the committee know what team they would like to play on, with the goal
of selecting a good team in a fair and inexpensive way.
- The timing of the pick is important
to reduce costs, as the tournament registrations are generally cheaper if
the signup deadline is met. In addition, at one month or more from the
tournament, airfare tickets are cheap and available. Team selection
shall be made one week before the earliest date. At that time, the
committee will pick the best members of the SDUHC to represent the club at the
tournament. The committee would announce that decision promptly so travel
plans could be made.
- Any player should not displace other
members of the team after the deadline. If, after the deadline,
the team roster is not comprised of 12 participants, or a member drops out,
the committee may pick additional members. After the deadline, if
there are insufficient SDUHC members to comprise a full team, then members of
other clubs can be admitted to the San Diego Tournament Team.
